WHAT
WE BELIEVE
I.
The Scriptures
-
All 66 books of the Bible
in its original documents are the inspired
-
Word of God, without any
errors in their statements. It is the complete revealed Word of
God for this age.
-
More than merely 'becoming'
God's Word through an experience, every word of the Bible is
definitively the inerrant, infallible, eternal Word of God.
-
The
Bible is to be interpreted in a literal, normal manner.
II.
God
III.
Jesus Christ
-
He is the only begotten Son
of God who took upon Himself flesh by way of the virgin birth,
and dwelt among men here on this earth. He was at one and the
same time fully God and man.
-
Jesus Christ died on the
cross as a propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of the whole
world. He arose bodily from the tomb, and ascended back into
Heaven, and is now at the right hand of the Father, carrying on
His ministry of intercession.
-
We
believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ: His
pre-tribulational return in the air for the church and His
pre-millennial return to earth to set up His kingdom.
IV.
Holy Spirit
-
The Holy Spirit is a divine
person who convicts of sin, righteousness and judgement; bears
witness to the truth and is the agent of the new birth. He seals,
empowers, guides, teaches, bears witness to, sanctifies and helps
the believer, indwelling every true child of God from the moment
of salvation.
-
Even though a Christian may
sin, being attracted by the world, the flesh or the devil, the
Holy Spirit continues to indwell such a one, though He be
grieved.
-
Spiritual
gifts are distributed to each believer by the Holy Spirit as He
determines. The sign gifts (healing, working of miracles, tongues
and the interpretation of tongues) are no longer being given
today, as they were temporary in nature.
V.
Satan
-
Satan is a living, personal
being; he is the god of this world and the prince of the power of
the air. Satan is the author of sin and he and his angels shall
be eternally punished.
-
As
a believer is indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit, he cannot be
possessed by a demon. Deliverance ministries to Christians are
therefore pointless.
VI.
Mankind
VII.
Salvation
-
Man is saved by grace
through faith and nothing of man enters into his salvation.
-
As God's sovereignty does
not negate man's freedom and responsibility, all men are invited
genuinely to believe and be saved.
-
Every
true child of God possesses eternal life, and cannot lose his
salvation.
VIII.
Resurrection
IX.
Judgement
-
We believe that everyone,
saved and unsaved, shall face God in Judgement
-
According to the
Scriptures, the judgement of the saved will be separate from the
judgement of the unsaved.
-
At the judgement seat of
Christ believers will be rewarded according to their manner of
life as Christians. They shall be rewarded or suffer loss of
reward according to their works.
-
All
unsaved shall be judged according to their works and cast into
the lake of fire to suffer forever. This is called the Great
White Throne Judgement
X.
The World to Come
-
We believe that the end of
this present world will come by fire, and the world to come will
be eternal.
-
In the world to come there
will be two eternal places: a place of endless joy for all the
people of God who have been saved by
-
His
grace, and a place of endless punishment for all who have never
been reconciled to God by the blood of Christ.
XI.
The Local Church
-
The local church is an
assembly of born again baptised believers united in organisation
to practise New Testament ordinances, to meet together for
worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching, and a united testimony;
and to actively engage in carrying out the Great Commission.
-
The church and government
each have definite and distinct spheres of responsibility.
-
The ordinances given to the
local church are baptism by immersion, and the Lord's supper, a
continuing memorial of the broken body and shed blood of Christ,
until He returns.
-
There are two offices in
the local church: pastor (also referred to as bishop or elder)
and deacon. When there is more than one pastor, one of them will
have a senior role as an administrative head. Pastors and deacons
are to be men.
-
We believe in the
independence and autonomy of the local church.
-
Compromising involvements
with groups such as the World Council of Churches are contrary to
the biblical admonition to 'come out from among them, and be
separate'.
