Brief Description

This subject covers the basic tools a believer needs to mature in the Christian faith.

Primary Source Material

This subject is based on 29 lessons from Disciples In Deed, 1993, 2009 by Carl T. Abbott and Campus Bible Fellowship. Published by Campus Bible Fellowship, University Ministry of Baptist Mid-Missions, Cleveland, OH 44130-8011. The classes will cover lessons 6 to 12 and 37 to 58. The relevant worksheets will be handed out in class.

Outcomes

When the subject is completed the student should:

  1. Know how to pray

  2. Have confidence in the Bible as the Word of God

  3. Have ability to interpret the Scriptures accurately and make appropriate application

  4. Have learned to do word studies and inductive Bible studies

  5. Know how to resist the devil properly

  6. Know how to deal with temptation

  7. Have discernment of the will of God

  8. Have learned to be a good steward of all areas of life

  9. Have learned the management of time

  10. Become a good worker, doing the work for the Lord

  11. Use material wealth to serve God

  12. Surrender one's will to God

  13. Accept God's unique plan for one's self

  14. Submit to the authorities God has established

  15. Desire moral purity in thought, word and action

  16. Mourn over hindrances to fellowship with other believers and with God

  17. Work on resolving relational conflicts.

  18. Take the initiative in expressing brotherly love

  19. Be able to accept and encourage believers who are at different levels of maturity

  20. Desire to honour the Lord by living a separated life

  21. Accept God's discipline as a means to maturity

  22. Give comfort and help to those who are going through trials
